Gifts for International Women’s Day
Whilst one day a year of celebrating women is not enough, we are pleased to be offering a wide range of gifts for International Women’s Day, made by women for women.
Over the years, our gifts for International Women’s Day on March 8th have evolved, and we are proud to share some of the creations with you!
Whether you are organising an event to celebrate women who changed the world, are raising awareness for the many issues women across the globe still face today, or would simply like to thank the special women in your life – our biscuits will help you make an even bigger impact.
Bloom Bakers was founded by two women, Lisa and Saskia, and is run by an all-female team. Needless to say, that we all got very excited to work on these beautiful orders that celebrate women
Women’s Day biscuits to help Break the Bias
The theme for International Women’s Day in 2022 was “Break the Bias”. The (often unconscious) bias women are facing in the world of work and beyond is something every woman has encountered in her lifetime, even in the first world and regardless of her socio-economic status or ethnic background.
We made hundreds of our signature jam biscuits for an event at Staffordshire University.
Women who changed the world
Whilst we celebrate ALL women, International Women’s Day is a good occasion to think of some of the brave women who changed the world.
A Leeds-based marketing agency organised a raffle event in support of an endometriosis charity. We contributed biscuits of Ruth Bader-Ginsburg, Kamala Harris, Maya Angelou, Rosa Parks and Margaret Hamilton.
It starts with you
In our opinion, the most important change that needs to happen is for women to stop competing with each other, to celebrate and support each other more, and to embrace their female qualities, rather than conceal them.
In order for this to happen, each woman must stop comparing herself to her sisters, and embrace her uniqueness, her beauty, the fact that she is worthy, that she is enough, not just despite of, but because of her imperfections.
We created this “Self-love” box for women to internalise these affirmations in the sweetest way.
Help for Women
As ambassadors for “Women Friendly Leeds”, a campaign that works to make Leeds become the first women-friendly city in the UK (yes, it is a thing, and yes, no city has earned that status yet), we see it as our duty to support women and spread the word about charities and other lifelines women in need can reach out to:
- Women’s Lives Leeds is a unique partnership of twelve women and girls’ organisations from across Leeds. Between them, they have specialisms in domestic violence, mental health, sexual health, sex work, substance use, child sexual exploitation and education.
- The Female Lead is an educational charity dedicated to finding the factors that limit women’s choices and fulfilment and amplifies their voices in order to drive change and improve economic outcomes.
- Pregnant Then Screwed was started by Joeli Brearley after her experience of maternity discrimination. She educated women on their rights and regularly leads campaigns against gender bias and inequality.
