Cherry Pie


A speciality from the South of The Netherlands

This cherry pie is like nothing you have ever tried and yet something you will want more of! This Southern Dutch speciality requires some serious skill and getting the hang of the special baking technique has cost us blood, sweat and tears, but it is worth it every single time! The beautiful lattice work on top makes it a piece of art. Almost too pretty to eat…almost!

The enriched dough is a move away from traditional pastry dough, as it contains yeast, salt and olive oil. The black cherry fruit filling is the perfect complement to the not overly sweet pastry. Just before the pie hits the oven, it gets sprinkled with pearl sugar, just like it is traditionally done in The Netherlands. This is definitely a treat you won’t quickly find anywhere else in Leeds, maybe even Yorkshire or the UK
